Limited first production run
The automatic knife sharpener that reads your knife.
Insert the blade and press one button. MAEKIRR is a fully automatic knife sharpener: it scans the edge, works out the correct angle for that exact knife, and sharpens it only if it has actually gone dull.

How it works
Insert
Drop the knife into the slot. Any direction, any size.
Press
One button. The scan and the angle math happen inside.
Cook
Pull out a blade that slides through a tomato under its own weight.
Every knife in your kitchen has a different geometry. MAEKIRR handles that for you.
Blade scan in 3 seconds
Optical sensors map the edge profile, steel type and existing bevel before a single grain touches it.
Angle found automatically
From 12° Japanese to 25° European geometry — the head aligns itself. No guides, no guessing.
Sharpens only if needed
If the edge is still keen, it stops and tells you. Your knives stop losing steel to habit.
One press, 40 seconds
Insert the knife, press the button, walk away. No skill, no stones, no water.
Safe by design
The blade is held by the machine, not your hands. Sealed chamber, zero swarf on the counter.
Works on what you own
Chef, santoku, paring, serrated and single-bevel blades — all recognised by the scanner.
Why MAEKIRR
Most sharpeners ask you to be the expert. MAEKIRR brings the expert inside the machine.
Manual stones
Rewarding when you have the time and skill, but easy to ruin an edge or spend half an evening on one knife.
Electric pull-through
Fast, but one fixed angle for every blade. It grinds whether the knife needs it or not, shortening the life of your steel. Or just grinds without sharpening.
MAEKIRR
Scans, decides, and sharpens with the correct angle for that specific knife — only when the edge is actually dull.
The Engineer behind MAEKIRR
Andrei Mu — Lead Hardware & Firmware Engineer
I am an engineer with years of experience designing hardware and working with microcontrollers.
I have spent countless evenings trying to put a proper edge on my knives — and I have watched regular electric sharpeners grind away good steel without ever giving me the result I wanted.
I value honesty, quality, and real technology that solves a problem instead of hiding it. MAEKIRR is the sharpener I wished existed: it measures the blade, chooses the right angle, and only removes metal when necessary. No marketing tricks. Just a tool that does what it promises.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from standard electric sharpeners?
MAEKIRR is a smart device: it maintains the sharpening angle automatically, detects worn spots on its own, fully replicates the blade geometry, and monitors the condition of the sharpening elements. In short, it is like having a personal knife-sharpening master at home.
Is it safe for expensive knives?
Yes. The scanner maps the edge before any abrasive touches it, the machine holds the blade instead of your hands, and sharpening stops the moment the target sharpness is reached. Single-bevel Japanese knives are recognised too.
What knives does it work with?
MAEKIRR sharpens virtually any knife with a blade up to 25 cm long and a spine up to 4 mm thick — any blade geometry, any sharpening angle. Serrated knives are supported too, as long as the sharpening pattern pitch is no more than 3 mm.
How much does MAEKIRR cost?
The expected price is $349 (including tax). The first 100 pre-orders get 30% off, and the next 100 get 20% off.
When does MAEKIRR ship?
The first trial production run is limited to 100 units and is planned for July 2027. Everyone on the priority list gets a guaranteed email one day before the public launch, while stock lasts.
